How escrow protects both buyers and sellers

A plain-English walkthrough of the Escro escrow flow — funding, the inspection window, auto-release, and how disputes actually get resolved.

How escrow protects both buyers and sellers

Escrow is the whole point of Escro, so it's worth understanding exactly how it works. Here's the full lifecycle of a sale.

1. The buyer funds escrow

When a buyer clicks Buy with escrow, their USDC is locked in a non-custodial escrow — not in Escro's bank account, not in the seller's wallet. The seller can *see* the funds are committed, but can't touch them yet. That removes the seller's biggest fear (a buyer who takes the product and never pays) without exposing the buyer.

2. The product is delivered through the platform

For downloadable products, the file is released to the buyer the moment escrow is funded, and a 72-hour inspection window begins. For transfers (a repo, a domain, a live SaaS), the seller marks the order delivered and provides the handover details.

Delivering through Escro matters: it gives both sides — and any future arbiter — proof that delivery actually happened.

3. The inspection window

The buyer now has 72 hours to confirm the product is what was promised:

  • Happy? Click *Accept* and the seller is paid instantly.
  • Did nothing? Funds auto-release to the seller after 72 hours. Sellers are never left hanging because a buyer forgot to click a button.
  • Something wrong? Open a dispute.

4. Disputes, resolved fairly

This is where most "crypto marketplaces" fall apart. On Escro, a dispute goes to an arbiter whose power is intentionally limited: they can refund the buyer or release to the seller — and nothing else. They cannot redirect funds to any other address. That constraint is what keeps the system non-custodial and trustworthy.

Escrow isn't a feature bolted onto Escro. It *is* Escro.
